'One man's violent past prompts him to question his life, and seek the love of a simple woman, in a simple country.'
James, a young Sicilian-American hit man, seeks escape from his violent profession and unsatisfying marriage. During a gunfight, James is shot and loses consciousness. Waking up in Sicily, he assumes that a rival family compromised his identity, which may have forced his own family to exile him from New York. Believing he is being pursued, James seeks sanctuary in the small town of San Fratello. The only belongings he carries are his gun and his chain of saints, representing all those who he has killed. In his search to begin life anew, James finds friendship with a kind older woman named Angelina, and love with a simple townswoman named Susanna. As his past comes back to haunt him, James must decide if he will kill in order to save Susanna, or if he will run away in order to survive. |
